Pet Portrait Hand-building Workshop
Teacher: Sarah Gilbert
In this fun, beginner-friendly 2-part class, you’ll learn to capture your furry (or feathered!) friend in clay. No prior experience is needed — just bring a photo of your pet for inspiration.
Session 1 - Sept 26th, 6pm : You’ll be guided through the fundamental techniques of pottery hand-building:
Pinch pots
Coils
Slabs
Using these methods, you’ll shape a personalized ceramic sculpture of your pet.
Session 2 - Oct 3rd, 6pm: Once your piece has dried, you’ll return to add color and detail with underglazes to bring your pet to life.
After class, Firebrick Pottery will take care of the finishing touches with a clear glaze and firing so your sculpture is ready to take home and display.
What to Expect
Skill Level: Beginner-friendly (no experience needed)
Final Product: A hand-built, underglazed, and clear-glazed ceramic pet sculpture
