Experience Level: Intermediate
This is an intensive, two-day skill-building workshop. You will be guided through the specialized technique of coil throwing, combining wheel work and coil-building to create large-scale ceramic vessels. Over the two sessions, you can expect to complete 2–3 large coil pots
This class is best suited for those with prior experience working with clay.
Day 1 - February 28th, 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM:
The first session is dedicated to design and establishing the foundation of your work. We will begin with drawing and planning your large pot designs, then move to the wheel to throw the bases for your vessels.
Day 2 - March 1st, 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM:
This is a dedicated workday focused entirely on construction. You will spend the session throwing coils and continuously building up the height and form of your pots, with plenty of time for individual work and guidance from the instructor.
What to Expect
Skill Level: Basic clay working experience recommended
Final Product: 2–3 large-scale ceramic vessels
Class Logistics: A 30-minute lunch break is included in the schedule on both days; students will need to plan accordingly for their own meals.
Materials: 50lbs of clay and tools will be provided for each student.
